North Argyll Cycle Club was founded in 2004 in response to demand from local cyclists. Our principle aim is in the promotion of cycling activities in the North Argyll area. In fulfilling that aim we have staged competitive events, social rides and skills training sessions in both road and off-road disciplines. We are affiliated as a club to the Scottish Cycle Union (SCU) and through them to British Cycling the governing bodies of the sport in the UK. This brings us direct benefits such as personal third party liability insurance for all club members but also keeps us in touch with national cycling issues and gives us a voice in influencing those issues. (We recently attended a consultation on the Sustainable Future of Mountain Biking in Scotland). We have developed close links with the Forestry Commission, who being the largest landowner in this area are very important in terms of facilities for mountain biking, and with their approval built single track routes at Sutherlands Grove. For 2008 we are putting together a program of events the initial fixture list
for which is included. If you don't see the types of event that you want. Please
tell us and we will help you organise them. |
